In this article, we will learn how to make your Own Digital Watch At Home using Simple Materials. So are you Ready?Step 1: Make sure you have all materials required.
Materials 1 28 pin DIP IC base 1 Pre-programmed ATMega328 DIP IC 1 4-digit display 1 10kOhm resistor 2 0.1uF capacitors 1 32kHz crystal 1 right angle tactile button 4 screws M2 seven millimeters 1 twenty millimeters coin cell battery having battery holder 4 threaded brass M2 seven millimeters 1 plastic watch band Acrylic enclosure parts Equipment: Solder Copper wick Soldering Iron Two-millimeter screw-driver wire cuttersStep 2: Solder the Resistor
Place the resistor inside the case, to ensure that the legs of the resistor are on the sides devoid of numbers and letters. Make sure to bend the legs to make it easier to solder the resistor without holding. Do it on the board and use wire cutters to cut off the bent legs of the resistor.Step 3: Solder the Crystal
Soldering the crystal is a bit different. Bend the crystal legs so that when you’ll be aligning them, they’ll be parallel to the board. You can then proceed to solder it.Step 4: Solder the Base of the Chip
Here again you need to be keen. Note that there’s a semi-circle on the board which matches a semi-circle onto the base. Make sure to fit the two well unto one another. Proceed to solder it. The procedure should start from one end towards the other end to keep it intact with the board.Step 5: Solder the Four Digit Display
Here you need to put the watch into display. Ensure letters at the longer sides of the board are facing the direction of the battery. Solder the display face just like you did on the base for the chip. Follow the same procedure.Step 6: Solder the Capacitors
Put in the capacitors. There’s no formula for doing this, you can put them in any direction. Ensure the legs are bent for easy soldering. After soldering, slash the legs of the capacitors.Step 7: Solder the Tactile Button
The two straight legs will go into the little box having little wording outside. Crooked legs will be outside. Solder on the button while in this posture. Solder in crooked legs likewise.Step 8: Put the Chip in the Base
Fix the chip at the base using the two semi circles loci.Step 9: Solder the Lithium Battery
Ensure the metal band is pointing towards the button. Solder it on while in this position.
You’re now set, close the watch case while the battery is intact. Check to see if time is counting.
