Code Debugging is the process of detecting and removing of existing and potential errors or bugs in your code that can cause it to behave unexpectedly or might even crash your software application. To prevent this bugs or errors in a software, Debugging is used to find and resolve the bugs or defects. When various subsystems or modules are tightly coupled in your software code then debugging becomes very much harder as any change in one module may cause more bugs in another module. Many times it is found that debugging takes more time then writing code.

To debug a program, user has to start with the problem, he/she should identify where the problem exists then isolate the source code of the problem, and then at last fix it. When the bug or error is fixed, then the software application is ready to use.

The following are the debugging process:

  1. Reproduce the Problem - This would help Developer identify where this problem occurs.
  2. Describe the bug - Try to get as much input from the user to get the exact reason for the problem.
  3. Capture the Programs snapshot when the Error occurs - Try to get all the variable values and states of the program at that breakpoint time.
  4. Analyse the snapshot based on the state and action - Based on that analysis try to find the main cause of the error.
  5. Fix the existing Error, but also make sure that any new Error does not occur.
